Florida paycheck, no state income tax.

Florida does not tax wages. Federal income tax and FICA still come out. Homestead exemption is a property-tax rule, not a larger paycheck.

What is different about Florida

Florida has no wage income tax. Homestead exemption can lower the property tax on a primary home. It does not increase take-home pay, and it is not a box on this calculator. A remote worker paid W-2 wages while living in Florida still owes federal tax on those wages. Social Security and Medicare do not have a Florida exception.

A single filer on $85,000

Standard deduction $16,100, no 401(k), no state tax. Federal income tax is about $9,870. Social Security is $5,270. Medicare is $1,232. Net is about $68,628 before health insurance, HSA, or any other deduction. The form above starts on this wage so you can change filing status without redoing the arithmetic.

The nine states with no wage tax are Alaska, Florida, Nevada, New Hampshire, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Washington, and Wyoming. They are not the same place. They are the same payroll math. The comparison page lists them together.

Reading the Florida result

Social Security is $5,270 and Medicare is $1,232. The state line is $0. Federal tax and FICA are the whole withholding story on this page. A rough net is $68,628 before health premiums. Biweekly, that net is about $2,640.

Use the main calculator when the wage is not the one printed here

This page fixes the state setting so the common mistake, typing a guessed rate, is harder. The brackets, the wage base, and the 401(k) treatment are the same engine as the US paycheck calculator. Change filing status on the form rather than multiplying the single result by two. Married filing jointly has its own standard deduction and its own brackets. A second job is not modeled. Local tax is not modeled except where the paragraph above tells you to add a county or city rate yourself.
