TAX YEAR 2026

Hourly paycheck calculator.

Type a rate and a week. The page annualizes it, then applies the same 2026 federal tax and FICA as the salary calculator. It does not invent overtime.

Why hourly and salary pages are not the same search

$28 an hour at 40 hours and 52 weeks is $58,240. That is a different question from “what is $58,240 a year,” because the person searching is holding a rate, not a salary offer. The tax math is identical once the year is built. Federal tax uses the 2026 standard deduction of $16,100 for a single filer and the brackets in Rev. Proc. 2025-32. Social Security is 6.2% up to $184,500. Medicare is 1.45% with no cap.

A week of 45 hours is not 45 times the straight rate if 5 of those hours are overtime. This page will not guess the overtime law in your state. Put 40 in the hours box and add the overtime dollars to a separate bonus-style estimate, or raise the rate to the average you actually receive.

Questions

Does this include overtime?

No. Multiply a time-and-a-half rate by the overtime hours yourself, or type an average hourly rate that already includes the extra pay.

How is the annual wage built?

Hourly rate times hours per week times weeks worked. Fifty-two weeks is a full year. Unpaid weeks should be typed as a lower week count.

From a rate to a year, then to a week

$28 an hour at 40 hours and 52 weeks is $58,240. That annual wage is what the brackets see. Federal tax, Social Security, and Medicare are computed on the year, then the net is divided by the number of weeks you typed so the figure on the right is a weekly check, not a biweekly one. If you work 48 paid weeks, type 48. Leaving 52 in the box pretends you were paid for four weeks you were not.

Overtime is not guessed. Five hours at time-and-a-half is not five times the straight rate. Either raise the hourly rate to the average you actually receive, or add the overtime dollars on the bonus page as a separate check. A salaried offer that was quoted as an hourly equivalent belongs on the salary calculator once you know the annual number.

State tax on an hourly job

The state control is the same as the salary page: none, California, or a flat rate. A Texas hourly job stays on “none.” An Indiana hourly job needs 2.95% plus the county rate if you know it. The federal math does not change with the state. Social Security is still 6.2% until the wages built from the rate, the hours, and the weeks hit $184,500.
