TEXAS · 2026
Texas paycheck, no state income tax.
Texas does not tax wages. A 2026 paycheck is federal income tax plus Social Security and Medicare. Property tax is not withheld from the check.
What is different about Texas
Texas has no individual income tax. The state line on a wage is zero. What people notice instead is local property tax, and that bill is not a line on the W-2. It belongs on the housing side, in the mortgage payoff page, as an annual tax you type yourself. Do not invent a state withholding rate for Austin, Houston, or Dallas wages.
A single filer on $75,000
Standard deduction $16,100, no 401(k), no state tax. Federal income tax is about $7,670. Social Security is $4,650. Medicare is $1,088. Net is about $61,592 before health insurance, HSA, or any other deduction. The form above starts on this wage so you can change filing status without redoing the arithmetic.
The nine states with no wage tax are Alaska, Florida, Nevada, New Hampshire, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Washington, and Wyoming. They are not the same place. They are the same payroll math. The comparison page lists them together.

Reading the Texas result
The number people confuse with a Texas income tax is the local property-tax rate. That bill is paid to the county, not withheld by an employer in Austin, Dallas, or Houston. Leave the state control on “no state income tax.” Typing a property-tax percentage into the flat-rate box invents a wage tax Texas does not have.
On the wage this page opens with, $75,000, a single filer with no 401(k) owes about $7,670 in federal income tax after the $16,100 standard deduction. Social Security is $4,650 and Medicare is $1,088. The state line is $0. Federal tax and FICA are the whole withholding story on this page. A rough net is $61,592 before health premiums. Biweekly, that net is about $2,369.
Use the main calculator when the wage is not the one printed here
This page fixes the state setting so the common mistake, typing a guessed rate, is harder. The brackets, the wage base, and the 401(k) treatment are the same engine as the US paycheck calculator. Change filing status on the form rather than multiplying the single result by two. Married filing jointly has its own standard deduction and its own brackets. A second job is not modeled. Local tax is not modeled except where the paragraph above tells you to add a county or city rate yourself.
